KEEP WATCHING the status of COVID-19 in our community by checking the Arizona Department of Health Services data for the counties where our St. Peter's people live or often visit. When you click on "Confirmed COVID Cases by Day" you'll get a map with counties. Clicking on each county give specific daily numbers. In these counties, we are looking for a downward trend for at least 2 weeks in cases prior to any kind of opening. We've established that the earliest date we may have in-person worship will be June 21. This allows time for the hopeful downward trending in new cases in our region along with time to observe what is happening in other churches in our Diocese. An update this week on counties that are eligible to enter Phase II (In-Person Worship). You will note that it is a shorter list than last week; none of our congregations have yet resumed in-person worship. Once they do, we will endeavor to ensure that they are not required to reenter Phase I for anything less than a substantial rise in cases. But overall, the averages went up last week, and I would rather delay resuming in person worship than stop it once it has begun.
