ST. PETER'S NEWS

Bob willoughby Memorial Service

7/23/2020

1PM Friday July 24

Please join St. Peter's clergy in Casa Grande along with Sandra and her family in Wyoming as we remember Bob with an online memorial service. This will be held on the Zoom platform. Should you not have access to this online, you can also join via any telephone similar to a conference call.

His service bulletin, with his obituary on the last page, can be accessed here.

Please contact Sandra by email for your invitation. While we miss Bob's presence in our community, we are comforted by the knowledge that we are on the path to join him in our eternal home with God.

Loving Our Casa Grande Neighbors

St. Peter's Outreach Giving Generously

Given the severity of the pandemic, the Outreach Committee has had to curtail some of our work but we are still managing to be a positive presence in our community. Thanks to your generosity, we have been able to give a total of $2000.00 to the Casa Grande Food Pantry and $500.00 to the Navajo Nation since March. The gift for the Navajo Nation was sent to the Diocese of Arizona. The Diocese is pooling donations and working on a water plan for the Navajo.

St. Peter's has become more active with Laundry Love. At this point, four churches are pooling funds and laundry soap to be able to provide this service twice a month. So far St. Peter's has been able to provide hygiene kits each time Laundry Love is offered. We recently received a welcome donation of washable face masks, hand sanitizer, lip balm and sunscreen from CAHRA (Community Action Housing Resource Agency) to add to the hygiene kits.

Anyone interested in assisting with this valuable ministry can donate to St. Peter's Outreach. At this time toothbrushes, toothpaste and deodorant are most in need.

In-person worship

6/22/2020

Just 24 people?
The Arizona rise in COVID infections keeps us safe in our homes, but we are still looking forward to our in-person worship. We really appreciate the people who have completed our survey to determine how many plan to gather in-person when we are able. Based on the results so far, 24 people have indicated how they intend to worship in-person at St. Peter's in the future.

The Gathering Guidelines from the Diocese stipulate that we gather in numbers no more than 25% of our total occupancy. For St. Peter's worship space, this means 25 people maximum in the space that can hold 100.

If we don't hear from you, we can't plan for you to show up at our doors and may not have room. Don't be turned away! Even if you don't plan on coming in person, hearing from you will help us plan other ways to worship such as home services, outdoor services and other ways of gathering. Every survey response counts!

Please click on the survey button below and let us know your plans for online and in-person worship. Thank you in advance for your help. Note; if multiple people share the same email address, only one will be able to take the survey. In this case, please send an email to St. Peter's with the additional survey question answers.

Scripture Readings for St. Peter's
and face masks for our Native American neighbors

Picture
Rev. Jeanne and the Cahall family have been busy being St. Peter's in Maricopa! Elliot and Ethan folded and stuffed 100+ envelopes with the scripture readings for the upcoming weeks. Along with scripture, Rev. Jeanne has enclosed a reading that calls our attention to the importance of learning from all the influences in our lives.

Judy Cahall and Rev. Jeanne have a goal to make 100 masks for our Native American neighbors. Isolated communities with limited health resources are suffering in the pandemic. Transfiguration Episcopal Church in Mesa runs the Crazy Chile Farm that provides outreach funds. They are currently working on ways to support Native American communities in Arizona. One community is the Hualapai Tribal Nation who live near the Grand Canyon. Please read more about how the pandemic has affected their lives in this remote area. Masks are greatly needed and we appreciate the talented St. Peter's hands (and love) that create each mask!

We love to hear your voices!

Reach Out and Touch Someone

The Saint Peter’s community is physically scattered, we physically lived in different States, Cities and even Countries, but we are close in prayers and hearts. We want to keep in touch. We want to know your needs, concerns and ideas.

So we, the “Caring hearts Ministry,” is reaching out and trying to touch each of you. But we cannot do this without your help, so here is what we would like to do. We asked that you give us a call whenever there is a change. If you are ill, if you need communion, if you need prayers, if you need to talk to the Priest, whatever your needs are, if you know of someone in need. Please call one of the members listed below.
